My name is Cindy Polo and I’m #notapolitician.

I’m a Mom, a Citizen and an Advocate.

I never seriously considered running for office because, quite frankly, I found the barriers to be too overwhelming. I am, after all, a regular person. But then Parkland happened. And, well, here I am.

My parents and two older brothers left Colombia in search of a better life. I was born in Providence, Rhode Island and as north easterners are known to, we moved to South Florida to escape the winters when I was two years old.

I’ve lived in the Hialeah and Miami Lakes area since then, attended school and started a family. I’m a graduate of Florida International University where I earned two degrees: a Bachelor of Science in 2004 and a Master of Business Administration in 2011. My career has included time at the Miami HEAT and the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority. Both helped shape my view on the importance of community and open dialogue.  Being informed, involved and engaged can make ANYONE and EVERYONE a force to be reckoned with.  I am currently a SAHM (Stay-at-Home Mom) and I am tired of not being represented or heard by my elected officials.
